Hi everyone...

MERRY CHRISTMAS !!!

Haha... Hope you all enjoyed a wonderful christmas...

Anyway, the chalet will be from the 26th to 28th of December, which is Friday to Sunday. Reporting time is at 4pm, and please bring along some snacks or food too. It is at Downtown East. We will SMS the room number to you tomorrow. You all may want to meet somewhere first before going to the chalet, so there won't be any people that are missing.

For those that made blazers, they are ready for collection at the SA office. The price is $17.50.

There is also a change of plan on Monday's practice. Band practice will be from 6.30pm to 8.30pm. Then there will be orchestra practice from 8.30pm to 9.30pm. Pieces that we are practicing for orchestra will be Tchaikovsky No. 2 and A Orchestra Fanfare. Only Jiexin and Hong Ghee need to attend the orchestra practice.

The MM Lee performance is on 5th January 2009, and there will be a full run through at the atrium on 2nd January 2009 which is a friday. Excuse letters will be given.

Hey people

The BBQ is confirmed... Its at 12 September 2008, at Rio Vista, 30 Upper Serangoon View #1139... The nearest MRT station is Hougang... So those who are going please leave a tag... The price is not confirmed yet... But should be around $10 to $20 depnding on how many people are going... So please let me know if you are going ASAP... Thanks... Enjoying your break from band? haha... Ok anyway some updates... As most of you would know, some clarinetists are currently planning some chalet or bbq for the section... But its not really comfirmed yet, or maybe I still don't know somethings... Well but anyway, its the exam break now... So people, STUDY HARD!!!! hahaha... Although its killing me now... Exams, tests and sadistic lecturers should be made illegal... They are morally unethical...

Are you all missing Vienna and Salzburg right now? haha... Anyway, great job for everyone of us... Our hardwork paid off, and we have achieved on the 6th July 2008,

Woohoo!!!! You all deserve a pat on your backs... haha...

Anyway, I am just here to remind you that there will be no band practice this week, and Sinfonique practice resumes on 21 July... Which is next monday, 6.30pm at the bandroom... So please be there... haha...

Clarinet section if you are not going for any sectionals or practices, please call me or message me to tell me why BEFORE the practice...

All I can say is I am very disappointed... I am sure all of you are young adults... So please behave like one... If you are not coming, tell me... I am sure in your secondary school you will tell your section leader automatically if you are not coming... So if a secondary school student can have that type of discipline, why don't poly students have it... Especially the year 1s... Some of you have never told me why you all did not appear for practice, ever yourself... I don't want to treat you all like some primary school kid, need to call you every practice to ask if you are coming or not...

Today's attendance was atrocious... ONLY 4 PEOPLE CAME??? And only Fahmi, Mabel and Angeline bothered telling me... What about the rest??? Let me just say this simply... YOU STOOD ME UP!!!! And I believe its not the first time too... You think I don't have projects and work? I have tons of projects to do too... But I still went for the sectionals... Why? Cause I thought all of you are going, and should not just throw you all aside 3 days before flying to Vienna... If you have alot of work, you could have told me... At least I know how many people is going, I can decide whether to cancel it or not, and do my project which is due tomorrow...

So, the bottomline is, if you are not coming, be it practice or sectionals, please tell me automatically... Not after I call you... And tell me why... At least I can account for your absence... I would greatly appreciate your kind gesture of courtesy...

Dear section members,

The holidays are going to end very soon... I hope you all have had a good holiday... However, next week will be the re-auditions... Therefore, I hope that those who are required to go for the re-auditions try your best, and practice the parts where you still cannot play... I hope that you all will go for the practices and sectionals... I know that the common test is coming, and also everyone have a lot of work and projects to rush... But, we are only left with less than 2 weeks before we depart for Vienna... Thus, I hope you all can use this time left wisely, and prepare well...

For those that keep saying that I don't want to go for Vienna or whatever, its not the time to say these now... You have already practiced hard, come for all the practices, paid for the trip, and etc... So, I hope that everyone will cooperate, and improve wherever you need to… Thanks…

Attire for SCL competition

we're left with about 2 more weeks before we depart for Vienna, so let's all JIAYOUUUU! :D

anw, just wanna inform you guys about our attire for the competition and orchestra performances.

attire for GUYS:
- black blazer
- black long pants (formal type)
- white long sleeve shirt (formal type)
- black covered shoes (leather type if possible, NO SPORTS SHOES TYPES PLEASE)
- black socks
- maroon ties (to be settled by the committee, members don't need to go and buy their own ties)
for those guys who do not have blazers and have signed up to make their blazers, they will be borrowing from the school first as the tailor made blazers will not be ready before we depart. for guys, you all are so fortunate! school can help you get them.. so TREASURE THEM! :D

attire for GIRLS:
- black blazer
- black long pants (formal type)
- white long sleeve shirt (formal type)
- black covered shoes (best if it is court shoes)

girls, i'm so sorry, those who do not have blazers will have to go and buy it themselves. yupp..
p.s. now is GSS, so for girls, the blazers are DAMN CHEAP NOW! GO GRAB IT! WHILE STOCKS LAST! :DD

should anyone of you have any problems, concerns, issues or questions about the trip or anything, please email them to us. we will try to answer them as best as we know and can. just fyi, mr han will come down to brief the band during the last week before we fly. and please assure your parents that everything is on track, that everything is in safe hands. i know some parents are getting VERY VERY concerned now as the departure dates are nearing. also fyi, we will be able to give you guys booklets for this trip. so please, rest assured you will be fully informed by the last week. sorry for the very much delay. we're trying as fast as possible to piece the puzzle together. do help us by understanding and being cooperative! ((:

one more thing to note for the girls, all white long sleeve shirts are to be COLLARED! no casual blouse nor casual blazers please. thanks!

and one more thing to note for everyone, there is a possibility that we will be wearing this blazer-attire for about 4 or 5 times, or maybe even more :/
so if you want, please get more white formal tops to bring for the trip.

Outing update

Hey people,

Francesca suggested that instead of going for the southern ridge thingy, we can go her house for bbq after a movie in the afternoon. Joseph suggested that we have the southern ridge on sunday, before going for the philwinds concert... Please tell me which one you all prefer... Please take note of your time and reach at least 15 minutes before your audition time. Sectionals this week is cancelled, as it is an audition day, and Chow Desmond (the tutor) is not able to make it. Please use this time to rest or do projects or whatever. I hope it is spent meaningfully... haha... Anyway, sectional will resume next week on saturday... Probably in the afternoon as most of our auditions is on the 14th in the evening... Please also remember to hand in your application forms for Sinfonique to me on Monday...

COMMON TEST IS COMING!!!! At least for me... I don't know about others... haha... But if you do have common test, Good Luck to us... hahaha... By the way, there will be a section outing next week... Ok thats so bhb... haha... Anyway, all year 1s going for the SCL competition, please pay $600 to the SA office at Blk E level 4 on Thursday, 22 May 2008... Please remember to pay because it will be the only day that you can pay... Seniors, please pay by 14th May 2008...

Please only pay $600 if your balance left after paying with PSEA is more that $600... But if its less than that then just pay all at once, cause the cost of the trip is only estimated at $1272... There may still be changes... But if you have already paid the full value of $1272, and the amount is less than that, then a refund of the extra money would be made...

Sectionals will be compulsory for all partcipants of ths SCL... Its on every Satuday frm 10.30am to 2pm... This saturday the sectionals will be the flutes from 10.30am to 1pm....

For the indemnity form for the band camp, please hand in to me BY FRIDAY!!! Those that does not have the form please come and get from me tomorrow... I'll be in school from 2 to 6... I would prefer you to look for me after 6... The camp is on 23rd to 24th May... Its 2 days, 1 night orientation camp... But there will still be practice during the camp...

Haha... Congrats for everyone who is able to go to Vienna... Which is essencially everyone who applied... Maybe some dun feel that its something worth congratulating... But whatever... haha...

Anyway, there will not be an audition in 14th May, which is coming wednesday... Its just the date to get notes and rhythm right... The part where it is the date for audition is a rumour set off by dunno who...

So people who are going for the competition, please remember to come on every wednesday and monday, and also, those not going for SCL, please come every monday... Those who are going, please continue to practice hard, and improve more and more... By the way, we need to bring someone down to contra alto clarinet... I already have a candidate in mind, but if anyone has any suggestions or want to volunteer to play, please feel free to give me your suggestion... I'll take that into consideration...

Hey people...

First, lets welcome the year 1s to our section!!! Wee... *Claps*

Ok anyway, for the benefit of the year 1s, I shall say more about the details for the Vienna trip... The trip is from 5th July 2008 to 12 July 2008, which is on the week 13 of the semester... This trip would be for a festival cum competition which is called the Summa Cum Laude International Youth Music Festival The accomodation is a decent hotel... (Thats what they say lah... So please don't quote from me... If not....... hahaha) Anyway, some days food will be provided, some days we have to look for our own food... According to Ah Girl aka Zhi Jie, the food there is about 10 euros, which translates to about 20 Singapore dollars...

Anyway, the total fees for the trip is S$4230 , and since the school is subsidising 70% for students, we have to pay S$1272... This is still subject to changes though... But the changes won't be that big.... As we all have a PSEA account, you can use the money in your PSEA account to pay for the trip... You can check how much you have in your account by calling 62600777... It is 24 hours, you will be served by a computer... hahaha... Well, after paying with your PSEA, you can pay the balance left using either cheque or nets, by installments... The installment is at least S$600 each month starting from May 2008, and if the balance left is less than S$600, then you have to pay it all at once in May... The payment must be made to the Student Affairs (SA) office in the first week of the month... The SA office is located at Blk E level 4, and if you are paying by cheque, please make it payable to "Nanyang Polytechnic"

There would be an audition to determine if you have cleared all your basics for senior on 14 May 2008... For year 1s, its in june, but I don't know the exact date... So please practice more, and try to clear your notes ok??? haha... To prepare for the competition, our section also has sectionals every saturday at 11am... So, please come, especially if you are going to go for the competition...

The Vienna trip has been comfirmed... So people going, please practice more ok? Clear the basics by 14 May 2008... haha... Don't die at the audition... Then so wasted... haha... Jia you!!!

Anyway, for the payment, the amount left after using the PSEA to pay will be paid off by installments... Each installment will be S$600 per month... Each installment must be paid in the first week of the month, starting from May... If the amount left after paying by PSEA is less than $600, then you will have to pay it all in May... Payment mode will be by the mode that you have told me...

People paying by cheque, please fill in "Nanyang Polytechnic" at the "pay to" blank... The cheque is to be handed in to the SA office at Blk E level 6... For those who have indicated that they need financial assistance, please do not fret. I know it is taking quite some time already. Please be patient. Han will definitely get back to us ASAP regarding the full procedure. please rmb that all financial assistant offered are base on a case to case basis. we shall wait for han's reply ok? it will most prob come in by next week. The part for financial assistance is directly lifted from Jolene's email... So any questions about that please go ask her or me...

Anyway, one of the pieces that we are playing for club crawl as clarinet ensemble is already found... I don't know when we can practice though... Hopefully as soon as possible... Its called Second Suite in F...

Another important thing is that those that are going for the Vienna competition, please tell me that you are going by latest COMING WEDNESDAY!!!! By the way, we need 16 clarinestists, 4 1st, 4 2nd, 4 3rds, 1 Eb, 1 Alto, 1 Bass, and 1 contrabass... So we are now short of 6... Therefore, if any of your friends are interested, please get them down to practice... The school is subsidising 70% of the costs for current student, so you need to pay $1300++. As for alumni, school subsidise 50% so they have to pay $2300++. For current student, you can pay by installments, starting from May, $600 per month, no interest. haha...

As for the attendance, those that wish to go would need to have at least 90% attendance starting from most likely this wednesday, 2nd April 2008... By the way, if you need the website, it is Summa Cum Laude International Youth Music Festival haha... Wee... Oh and I hope that if you people are free, you all can do self practice... haha... *Trying to be politically correct* Opps... haha... Anyway, try to improve on your playing bah... JIAYOU!!!!

Another thing is please be punctual and present for practices... Cause attendance is taken... Also, if your attendance is below 80% CCA points will not be given... That is if you dun have a valid reason of cause... Erm... and chalet and such are not considered valid reasons... haha... Well... Yesterday was Hansel and my last performance as a student of NYP... Well.. Thanks peeps for giving us all these chance... =D Even though I left before... Hansel joined about 1 and half year back? LOL!
